is it bad or not using replacement toothbrush heads

I'm been using Philips sonicare toothbrush for many years and never tried any replacement heads,
always original one. Is it bad or not using replacement heads? By common sense I think there
shouldn't be any harm to the teeth or gum but could those replacement heads have less benefits
compared to the original one?
