Hello,

Neither drinking nor smoking.

During the first root canal treatment, three canals were treated without the use of a microscope or rubber dam. Afterward, there were pain issues.

Subsequently, another dentist performed a second root canal treatment, this time using a microscope and 3D X-ray. During this procedure, an additional canal was discovered, making a total of 4 canals treated in a single session. The tooth was also sealed during this appointment.

After 16 months since the second treatment, the 2D X-ray still shows signs of inflammation. Meanwhile the tooth has been crowned.

Is it possible that this tooth is sensitive to cold again due to the inflammation, and does it make sense to consider a root canal apicoectomy, let alone a third root canal treatment, especially if the second treatment may not have been done properly (e.g., insufficient filling)?

This concerns the tooth 36. I've heard that root canal apicoectomy may not be very successful for this tooth, especially after two previous root canal treatments. When I bring up the issue of cold sensitivity with the dentist, he claims it's impossible for a crowned tooth that has had a root canal.

Thank you

The tooth should be asymptomatic. The fact that you have cold sensitivity, might be an indication that there is still residual infection in one of the canals or accessory canals. Have you seen an endodontist yet?

The vulnerability encompassing a root channel treated tooth can be genuinely difficult, yet there's desire to consider.

Assuming that you have worries about the tooth being referred to (tooth 36), it's urgent to talk with your dental specialist or endodontist. They can assess the condition and decide whether there's plausible to protect or save the tooth through extra treatment or reclamation.

Here and there, a tooth that has had a root trench might require further consideration, like a dental crown, to fortify and safeguard it. Your dental expert will give direction on the best game-plan to guarantee your tooth's drawn out wellbeing.

Keep in mind, your grin is an important piece of your prosperity, and with the right dental consideration and backing, there might in any case be an opportunity to protect your tooth and keep up with your solace and certainty.
