Tooth extraction, chunk of hard material came out.

I had a tooth extraction roughly 2 weeks ago. Today a rough surfaced hard, light pink material about 3/8"x1/2", 1/8" thick came out of my mouth. I wasn't told to expect anything like this, nor was I told that I had to do a follow-up. I actually spoke with the dental assistance a few days ago and she said I was done with the visit. I'm guessing it was just a temporary gum protection, but would like confirmation. It would have been nice to have been informed of something like this.

Sounds like a bone fragment, fairly easy to crush; not an unusual occurrence. A tooth fragment would be smoother, and hard to crush.
