Recent root canal and felt great with temporary filling....until they shaved tooth down

Root canal completed in March and felt great for weeks. Then they shaved down tooth for temporary. It's been 18 days since then and my gums are still bruised and getting a bruised feeling in jaw and pressure. When I look it doesnt look too bad there its just more of a feeling. I was told to wait until permanent crown and see how it works. Still worried. I had a ton of extra cement between teeth that was removed which did help some but still feeling that feeling. I will say the temporary is kind of tight and difficult for them to get off. Just wanted to see what you all think.

Temporary crowns are also very rough around the edges, which sometimes leads to irritation of the surrounding gum tissue. Try and rinse with some salt water and see if the gum inflammation settles, otherwise wait for the permanent crown to be placed.

Thank you for the reply. I have been doing an oral rinse everyday and it helps quite a bit. They gave me a bottle of it. I do notice if I skip a day of rinsing I sometimes get that bruised feeling again. I'm hoping it's just the temporary. I will say I had another root canal done months ago on another tooth and the temp for that one caused issues. Turned out that temp was made poorly and a piece was poking me in the gums! Hated it. This one there is no piece there just general discomfort.

Hopefully is subsides when they cement the permanent crown
Hey there and thanks for replying. I got the permanent crown and the pressure is back unfortunately. It's definitely coming from the gums IMO and it's not the tooth. It's my right of the tooth gums. Is it possible that there is a nerve that is being pressed by the crown? I've never had this before and it's very annoying and irritating. Just wondering if anyone has ever heard of this. When the temp was off I felt relief thank goodness.

If the crown is too high, then there could be pressure on the perdiontal ligament around the tooth. Did the dentist check the bite?

Yep they checked bite. Although I feel like my bite has gone crazy since my other first root canal. I don't think it is that though personally. I also heard my bite was ok from another dentist. I thought about the crown being too high also but the temp was doing it too and I remember hearing when they put the crown on that they got it "perfect" (what they said to each other). I don't know what to do. I don't want to lose the tooth but honestly this annoyance isn't worth it.

I will do that too. Wondering if I should request antibiotics and see if it affects anything too and if it gets hetter. If it does....probably not a good sign but might be wortbetter. I'll try some NSAIDs first though. Thank you for your response. Il
Try and take a short course of anti-inflammatory medication, just in case the PDL is inflammed.

Leave antibiotics first. Always remember, antibiotics is never a solution to any problem. It will only indicate that there is some bacterial infection somewhere and then the cause should be treated. Might me that the root canal is not a success.

Hence why I wanted to try. But I was told by new dentist that the root canal looked good and honestly I'm hesitant to think it's the root canal because I was good until they shaved tooth down. But now I'm wondering if it's not coming from the other root canaled tooth next to it. The crown is cracked I discovered....so I'm honestly wondering. I'm beginning to think root canal was mistake on both and should have just gotten removed and saved for implant or something even though it's way more. It's really not worth the Hassel and all the BS tbh

Could be referred pain. Would need some imaging to confirm this. Root canals don't last forever. If you have the funds for an implant, and a failing RCT has been confirmed, then an implant can be a better long term solution.

So crown is not cracked, that was confirmed and that tooth does feel normal so no referred pain. It almost feels like the new root canal I got (that was fine until tooth was shaved down) like the crown is pressing on gums or pressing on something causing this. I felt relief when temporary was off and once new crown was put on within a short amount of time the feeling came back. Feels like at first a burning feeling in nerves going to jaw and then a bruised feeling. Honestly, feels like someone pressing on face at times. Never felt this before though when I got the other tooth next to it root canaled (that tooth is fine) I remember a temporary made that was stabbing me in the gums that had similar type of pain. There is nothing stabbing me here. To be honest, it feels like it's the gums doing it and the crown is pushing up against it. I'm not sure how this would be fixed. I will get a 3d at some point again but I have a feeling they will tell me the root canal is "fine" but I guess it's worth a go.

Don't have money for an implant unfortunately. Just got a new air conditioner, car loan payoffs etc. I would probably just end up getting tooth removed if it comes to that.
