Hi

I had root canal on a back molar 9 months ago and still have pain and sensitivity. I had pain in this tooth for years prior to having the root canal performed. I’m starting to think the root canal has failed would I be right in thinking this?

My dentist said it could take months for the pain to settle down.

Good day

Do you perhaps have any x-rays you can share of the root canal that has been completed?

With molars, there may be anatomic features/extra canals that even the most experienced specialist can miss. 9 months is too long. If the dentist that did your root canal is an endodontist (root canal specialist), go back and get proper follow up. If your dentist is not, then get a referral to one for evaluation. The last resort is to extract it.

If a root canal tooth hurts after a year's, it is often due to root canal failure or a cracked tooth. You must contact your doctor or get in touch with a Dentist in Brentwood who can guide you with your dental problems.
