I have broken a chunk off of an upper molar. I am not having any pain. I am 81 years old, have all my own teeth, and have never needed a filling, crown, root canal, etc., so I am a total novice when evaluating my options; i.e. a crown, an extraction and bridge, a single tooth implant, etc. Where can I find straight forward information simple enough for an "aging novice" to understand my options? Thank you in advance for any advice you can provide.

Best option would be to see a dentist in person. He can then explain or show examples of the different treatment options based on your scenario.

I am amazed (in a good way) that you are 81 and haven’t had so much as a filling!

I have a mouth full of fillings and one root canal and I’m not even 40 yet. I’ve always looked after my teeth and try to do all the right things, yet my teeth always seem to have issues.

Is there anything you think you’ve particularly done to look after them or do you think a lot of it is luck / genetics?

I work for example with people who drink fizzy drinks all day every day. Yet they’re also telling me they’ve never had a filling in their life. It makes me wonder how much is down to genetics.

I hope you got sorted with your issue!
