Pain...?

So ten years ago I had my wisdom teeth removed. For those ten years I have not been able to eat anything with any flavor (I was just taken down by feta cheese) without sharp pain in the places my wisdom teeth used to be. There are no holes, there are really no signs of removal (other than the fact that they took a rather large chunk of bone out of one side), there’s just pain. I never felt that before. I mentioned it to the surgeon and he told me that it would get better with time. For an entire decade I haven’t been able to eat anything without closing my eyes in pain and counting to ten. After that the pain goes away for the rest of that consumption. It’s almost like getting in a swimming pool...ten seconds of discomfort and then you’re good to go. But I feel like it’s been long enough, it’s no longer just healing. What is causing this?
