Is there a periapical lucency?

Hello,
Recently I've discovered that tooth number 31 has a failed root canal, as you can see on the xray it has very large periapical lucency. The tooth was asymptomatic, I was quite surprised at the discovery. The root canal on this tooth is 4 years old and originally there was no lucency associated with this tooth. There was also no lucency on this tooth 1 year ago, when I did a check up. So, it's an infection that has developed recently.

My new Dentist recomended to pull out the tooth, so that the wisdom tooth (32) can erupt better and eventually it could be used to substitute the pulled out tooth (31). And I could have a fresh tooth instead of a tooth with a root canal treatment or an implant.

My question is, is the wisdom tooth fine or does it also have a little periapical lucency at the very tip of the roots? Is it just the xray that makes it look like it has one, or am I just a little paranoid? Should I take a CT scan just to be sure about it?

p.s. for the tooth number 30 (there is a little bit of it visible on the picture) I'm doing retreatment.

It does not look like your wisdom tooth has a radiolucency. You do understand that you will only be able to utilize your wisdom if you consider doing orthodontic treatment? The chances of the wisdom closing the gap fully, is slim, since the roots of the wisdom is already fully developed.
