Dental crown cracked after only a few months

It was discovered by me and had no idea. Porcelain crown was placed in January of this year. Don't know if it's shallow or big but it's definitely a crack at back of crown. Should a dentist give some sort of refund or am I sold out of luck? Thanks.

Depends on the policy of the dentist. But if it was only after a few months, I am sure the dentist will try and accomodate you.

Hey, that definitely sounds frustrating—especially so soon after getting the crown. Small cracks in porcelain crowns can sometimes happen due to how the crown was made or even how your bite aligns with it, but it shouldn't be something you notice just a few months in.

It’s reasonable to go back to the dentist who placed it and have them examine the crown. A good dentist will typically stand by their work, especially if the crack is clearly a materials or placement issue. It doesn’t always mean a refund, but in many cases, they might offer to replace or repair it at little or no cost, depending on their policy and what they find.

If you're unsure about how to move forward or just want a second opinion, clinics like Esthetix Dental Care can check the integrity of the crown and let you know if it's minor or something that really needs to be redone. Sometimes, even a small adjustment or bonding can help if the crack isn’t deep.

Either way, it’s best not to ignore it—catching it early might save you from a bigger issue later.

Thank you. I actually think it looks pretty big to be honest but not enough for the crown to fall off. I have an appointment soon so hopefully will see what they say. I'm also dealing with a new root canal causing issues. Have you ever heard of a number 4 tooth referring pain to lower jaw? I was fine when canal was initially done but the issues began when they shaved the tooth down and temporary.
