Attacked a few months ago, now painful tooth!

Just seeking some advice, on New Years I was attacked, someone tried to rob me and punch me in the face. At the time they chipped my back tooth, thought nothing of it until recently when I've been getting some pain and noticed a hole in my tooth. Can anyone offer any advice? I was advised a filling would be all this is required?

Apologies on my ignorance, I'm not familiar at all with Dentistry.

The photographs are not at all clear. However, you may be able to fill it up if the decay is not too deep. If deep,you will need a root canal treatment.
It is less likely that this problem is a result of the attack you had on the new year eve.
