Additional hole next to extraction site

I need help with this situation rq. So I got my wisdom tooth removed and he stitched it up, but after a few days I looked and I noticed that there is ANOTHER hole at the back lower between my gums and my cheek and it's pretty big. I told my dentist about it and he said it's part of the recovery, but it's the second wisdom tooth removal I had and the other time this didn't happen. It's been almost a week since I saw it and it didn't close at all and I'm really scared that is not going to close. Please someone answer this
