Painful white blob on part of my gums

Hi, I've had a painful white spot on a part of my gums for around 1-2 days now, I'm not sure what it is and am planning to go see my dentist ASAP, however I'd like to see if I can figure out what this is. There is pain in both the cheek (on the inside) and on the gum itself where the white blob is.

Please help!

update: I've taken one 200mg dose of Ibuprofen and am holding a cold compress on it as it feels better.
