I have an abscess that I discovered this past Sunday. It doesn't hurt. The tooth it's under doesn't hurt at all. I went to urgent care to get antibiotics which they gave me. They true to Lance it, but only got blood, no puss or anything they typically find in an abscess. They said it's probably inflammation. I have an appointment for a cleaning on April 3rd.
A little history, the tooth it's under I had filled about 8 months ago. After the filling my tooth hurt, it was sensitive to cold and hot. I could not bite on it. I called the dentist and he put me on antibiotics. That did not help. So I went back in and he did find a high spot and fixed it. After that, pain gone tooth fine. No problems till now.
I've been on the antibiotics for 72 hours and I 've seen no improvement in the abscess. It does not hurt. When you press it, it really doesn't hurt. I feel pressure under the tooth. But again no pain.
I would never have known it was there if I didn't poke it while brushing this past weekend. I have no clue how long it's been there. I'm guessing not long since it's not bothering me.
Just wondering if it can just be an abscess that is on the gum only since I have no pain and the tooth doesn't bother me?
The dentist I go to their solution to everything is root canal. Typically when a have a filling fixed or done, my body takes longer to heal after it. So I give it sometime to heal. They always say if my teeth are sensitive, root canal. I do not want a root canal or to have the tooth pulled. Is there a third option? Maybe something super new. I feel like if the tooth doesn't bother me, I don't want to go to mess with it.
