What sort of xray machine is required for orthodontics patients

My wife is a dentist and we are thinking of opening a clinic. I'm more in control of the finances...

I realize that a 3D xray machine is necessary to do implants. But what about orthodontics? My wife is saying that we need a 2D machine. But I wanted to know are there any cheaper options that I can suggest. If you can give any links for reasonably priced xray machines that will facilitate case acceptance.
