The crown is now over one year old

The crown is now over one year old. In the last few days, it started to be painful in contact with heat or cold. It goes away after a while.
Should I go back to my dentist to have it checked? Will that generate a cost? Was the job not done properly?

The pulp (root canal) is inflammed. Try to minimize cold exposures and allow the tooth to settle down. If the pain worsens then the pulp is irreversibly damaged and need to consider a root canal treatment.
