Lower Jaw Crowding

I've three questions regarding my lower jaw crowding.
1) Will springs or elastics be required if I am getting braces?
2) What is the most probable thing that the orthodontist will do to correct the tilted canine teeth.
3) Is extraction really necessary? The ortho I got an opinion a while ago said that a palatal expander will cause the teeth to look "pushed out"
