Gum on teeth

My wisdom tooth is growing and now there is a piece of gum, almost like a small ball of gum in the centre of my tooth. It is only a bit painful when eating otherwise it just causes discomfort. Ive been doing salt water rinses but I'm not sure if it's been helping. If you have an idea of what this might be please let me know.
