Full dentures with TMJ?

Im in a downhill battle trying to save my teeth after horrible dental work gone wrong. I have had 6 root canals and 6 crowns on the bottom teeth. I have 6 super high permanent crowns temporarily cemented that i CANT stand. They are so thick and high. My tmj is being aggravated with this new bite. I feel things are not getting any better, plus the crowns feel so fake. To complicate, 3 lower crowns (molars) got scratched during this procedure and they refuse redo these crowns for me. My tmj has been aggravated by this complication.

How are full dentures for tmj people? At night do you wear a nightguard? Do you rest well without anything on at night? How do you rest from your dentures during the day? You take both off, leave one on? Are you able to wear only one denture at a time for rest or is it better to wear both together? I feel my tmj would be more stable without this horrible bite (canines on canines) by removing the teeth. I am near making a decision that is best for me, continue this downhill battle, or be done with this and get full dentures. I have a plan at affordable to get a full upper with bone graphs and a full lower with 4 implants on bottom. I have apt tomorrow to get these crowns lowered/adjusted. I feel my suffering has been over a year, now going onto second year and I need to make a decision to spare myself from a complete mental breakdown. Last apt, doctor was unavailable to answer my questions and he said he would not waste any more time with me, he also refused to accept the fact my 3 lower crowns got damaged after the lower teeth crowning procedure, stating i was making it up. I filled out a reimbursement packet from medi cal and a complaint due to this so they can investigate this matter and likely get me refunded back for these covered procedures. I am nearing the end of this, my heart is telling me to be done and proceed with affordable before i reach a mental breakdown, please help! This upper temporary plate is very ill fitting as well

It sounds like you had some major restorative work done, due to a possible collapsed bite. In cases like this, I often refer my patients to a prosthodontist. They are more specialized in doing full mouth rehabilitations. If you do crowns and just open up the bite, without doing proper planning, there is definitely a chance that you can mess up the TMJ.
I would not jump to the conclusion that you need full dentures though. Things might still be salvageable.
I would suggest seeking the opinion of a prosthodontist.

It is essential to maintain open communication with your dental care provider about your concerns regarding comfort and functionality. Documenting all symptoms clearly will help them understand how best to assist you moving forward.
addressing both the fit of your crowns and managing TMJ symptoms requires a multi-faceted approach involving professional evaluation and possibly further treatment options tailored specifically for you.

Each individual’s experience with TMJ and dentures varies widely; thus, personalized advice from healthcare professionals is crucial. it’s understandable that you’re feeling overwhelmed by this situation, taking systematic steps can help alleviate some of that stress and lead to better outcomes for your dental health.

Its been over a year with no end im sight and this is causing me extreme mental anguish and physical discomfort. I cant go on much longer. If todays apt doesnt go well, im done. 😞😞😞

Things have really gone downhill. Leaning towards full dentures at this point. Lower crowned molars got damaged, badly scratched after a procedure. Dentist refuses to fix the problem stating im making it up. This has turned into an emergency, having to relieve my temporary upper to relieve pressure to the lower molars because my tmj was getting worse! Now i have to use wax, cushion grip, on my uppers bottom to ease this rough movement from the scratched lower crowns so my tmj doesnt flare up. Ive even resorted to using a bite block sort of a night guard type to keep my top and bottom teeth from touching..i just feel this has reached a CRITICAL POINT and i dont see it getting any better but worse. I am leaning towards full dentures up to this point!
