Just wondering if it were normal for the bone graft site to become redder 3 weeks post op? (Started in one area now spread throughout)

I’ve had a bone graft failure before so just paranoid on whether or not this is normal, and if antibiotics would be a good idea to prevent infection/calm inflammation? Thanks very much

It looks normal. Remember, normal tissue is pink. What you see as red, might just be the tissue transitioning from yellow-whiteish ( granulation tissue ), to normal tissue, which is red-pinkish.
Only be concerned if you notice any severe pain in the area or bad taste or smell.

Also the doc had sent me 5 days of amoxicillin just in case and then said it should be normal healing. Since I have a flight schedule, as precaution I did start taking them. Since there’s no infection and what I had presumed was inflammation would 3 days instead of 5 be okay, or best to finish the course? Thanks very much

Always finish the course of antibiotics. Never stop drinking antibiotics before the course has been completed. This is a general rule.

Sorry the only reason I ask is the previous doc I saw had given me a 3 day course of amoxicillin before, same 500mg when the gums had been looking inflamed. This doc had sent for 5 days before looking at the photos. Also, not sure if related but since yesterday (day 4) the right side of my throat is a bit stiff/sore compared to my left side and a little hard to swallow there
