Do I need to get a RCT?

I have a cracked lower molar, and the dentist put a crown on it. Unfortunately this hasn't helped much (maybe a little) and the discomfort is still there when i eat on it with certain foods. It's not unbearable but not ideal.

Question is, should I get the RCT? I'm worried that not getting one may damage the tooth further?
