Change in space between teeth after procedure

I’m finding it almost impossible to floss between teeth I was able to floss between a week ago. Last week I had a hygienist appointment and either polishing strips or interproximal strips were used between some of my lower front teeth. The gap has closed between some of the nearby teeth and I think it’s putting my teeth under pressure.
Does anyone know why this might happen?

I don't think the teeth would have shifted so much that you won't be able to floss inbetween them. Try and used waxed floss if you have very tight contacts.

It’s not just that the gap has closed, the angle of the tooth has changed. I’m very used to how my teeth usually feel as I have flossed my teeth every day for decades. I’m struggling to get floss in where I wasn’t before. I’m wondering if part of the sensitivity is to do with teeth shifting

Hey Sarah, that does sound frustrating—especially since you’re so on top of your oral care. It’s totally possible that the polishing or interproximal strips changed the way your teeth meet slightly. Even a small adjustment can make things feel off, especially in tight areas.

Teeth can also shift a bit after a cleaning, especially if there was tartar between them that was keeping them in place. It might not be a huge movement, but just enough to make flossing feel different. If something still doesn’t feel right after a few more days, maybe give your dentist a quick call—just for peace of mind. You know your teeth best.
