Looking for an alternative to extraction for #14 and #15 Upper Left molars.

My upper left molars, one with a crown and one with a dislodged crown, have decay close to (and below) the gum line. My dentist recommended extraction, but I am searching for alternatives. Attached a recent X-Rays.
Thanks very much for your help.
