I've just lost a 30 year crown on #15 upper left molar which also has deep decay below the gum line. No pain. My general dentist recommended extraction of the tooth, but I'm looking for an alternative solution. I moved to a new dentist who was willing to refer me to an endodontist and a periodontist to explore possible crown lengthening and/or deep margin elevation. But I've heard that deep margin elevation is a relatively new procedure and that many specialists may not have the necessary skills. My question: Are there specialists who do deep margin elevation as their specialty and if so how does one find them?
