Useing colgate duraphat 5000 as main toothpaste?

Hi can anyone tell me if I can use Colgate duraphat 5000 toothpaste indefinitely? My dentist has prescribed it me for the last 6 months? But I've nearly run out and my next dental appointment isn't for another 6 months, and I want to buy some, would it be OK to keep useing the duraphat 5000 toothpaste indefinitely instead of regular toothpaste?

It is more expensive. Usually the 5000 ppm toothpaste is used as a supplement to regular toothpaste. It may not have the necessary micro-abrasives to remove plaque effectively.
