my mom always looked after her teeth...great condition - always going to the dentist for regular checks...brushed at least three times a day...BUT her tooth enamel was very 'yellowish' - not pearly white...... I too sem to have inherited this....I look after mine as well but the tooth enamel is very yellow looking.....anything that can be done to give them a better whiter look....

Your teeth most likely appear more yellow, because your enamel layer is very thin. The dentin layer is shining through, which is why they appear more yellow. In such a case, you can whiten your teeth with a professional tooth whitening system. This does not last forever and will have to be re-done every 2 years or so, since the teeth stain again with your diet.
More permanent options would include veneers or crowns, although there are also disadvantages associated with these options as well, which should be discussed with your dentist.
