What on earth is this?

Non-smoker. 38 years old. It doesn't hurt at all. No ulceration. It's not hard, just fleshy feeling.

Symptoms;

Sometimes have a yellow coating at the very back of the tongue
Red gums for weeks, potentially months now

I visited my dentist who just said it was inflamed papillae, but I've had this for a couple of weeks and I'm getting really worried. I have health anxiety and I've been absolutely sick with worry. Not sleeping and just thinking the worst. Apparently papillae settles quickly, so the fact I still have this..

I've been drinking a lot more wine than I usually do over the past couple of months - perhaps a couple of bottles a week, so I'm not sure if the volume of wine has irritated my overall dental health.

I can't function on anything other than this at the moment. Crying as I type this.

Thank you for reading x
