Can science, chemistry, or biology tell us if between listerine mouthwash and colgate total toothpaste, which one will do a better job of killing bad breath germs?

Physical removal of plaque by brushing, interdental brushes (or flossing) is the best technique. Mouthwashes come a distant second place and are not really necessary. If you want to use a supplementary mouthwash, then chlorhexidine 0.12% ("Peridex") beats Listerine. But there can be other causes of bad breath, see attached.

But between using total toothpaste alone and listerine alone, who will prevail as far as killing bad breath germs?
