I remember panicking when a small, sharp piece of bone worked its way out of my gums after a wisdom tooth extraction, but my dentist reassured me it was just a natural part of the socket healing.
This is a normal part of healing. There is bone surrounding the socket, that resorbs or breaks into smaller pieces. You rinse most of it out, or it protrudes through the gum at a later stage. This is a normal part of the healing process.
