Slow healing ulcer from crown placement?

Hello I’m glad to find this community in hopes of getting another opinion on my situation. I had a permanent crown place back in mid October and for a few days every was fine until I bit my tongue while eating and the next day I woke up with this ulcer area along my tongue.

I’ve been back to the dentist 3 times to have the crown polished down however the ulcer remains. It has diminished in size however I can feel my tongue hitting the crown while eating and sometimes while talking or swallowing. I’ve been very careful to avoid hard crunchy foods however 3 days ago I bit that area again while eating and it seem to set any healing back.

My dentist said last week it could take as long as another 30-45 days to fully heal and to do salt water rinses several times a day. And avoid irritating it.

I’m just wondering if it would be better at this point to extract the tooth and flush the crown all together! I appreciate any advice
