Recurring painful red patches on tongue

Hi everyone,
I am having this problem of recurring painful patchy tongue from past 1 years. However, from past 6-7 months, this condition is getting worse, it is becoming more and more severe and painful. Along with all this, i am having discomfort/irritation/burning sensation. I was assuming it to be Geographic tongue, but now as it is recurring on a regular basis (once/twice in a month), so I am little worried about it. Attached are some of the photographs of the condition, taken at different times.
Anyone, please help me in this. Should I see Oral Surgeon now?

Did you get to the bottom of this issue? I have been experiencing the same thing for a while now

Looks like geographic tongue to me. If it continues to bother you, then go to an oral surgeon.
And it's not cancer!
