Question about implant.

I have 2 molars that are both in terrible shape. One is bottom left and has no tooth above it. It likely will just be pulled. But the other is top right and has 2 crowns below. I seriously doubt it is viable for a crown. The tooth in front of it is missing. If I were to consider an implant, or maybe 2, would it be better to see a maxillofacial specialist? Or can I see a general dentist first? I'm wondering if it is better to have them make the recommendation. And if so, would there be some type of prep for it when they pull it?
Or do they extract, let it heal and then start procedures to do an implant?

Maybe start with the dentist first. They can refer you to a maxillo-facial specialist to place the implants, but only AFTER a treatment plan has been decided on. Always plan from the crown down. The dentist will be the one that does the restorative work afterwards.
