Potential Bone Spur - Advice Needed

Hello and thank you in advance. I had a tooth extraction around five years ago on a tooth that I broke on a bagel of all things. The extraction was extremely painful and I was advised that my tooth roots are extremely long, and that a small amount of tooth had remained in my bone but was uninfected.

Out of nowhere today, I’ve started to experience excruciating pain. I’ve managed to get a picture of it and have an appointment with my dentist line up next month anyway. It’s in the top-left corner.

I have attached two images. I’m aware that the tooth behind it appears to be terrible, but both teeth were damaged in the initial break. All of my other teeth are in good shape, but I’m worried that if this is a spur, that it’s infected or something.

It might just be some inflammation due to the small tooth piece being extruded through the gum tissue. Try taking some anti-inflammatory medicine. If it does not help, try and see your dentist to have that small piece removed.
Does not appear to be infected at this stage, but would need an x-ray to comment further.
