Hi. I’ve just been to my normal nhs dentist and had an impression for upper partial dentures as I am having a front tooth extracted. I also have a few upper teeth missing and a few lower teeth missing. I was told that at my next appointment they would extract the tooth then fit the “temporary “ denture immediately. Should I be able to get the lower ones done too with paying for band 3. She also said the denture may only last 3 months and if they do I would have to pay another full band 3 for more. Does this sound correct if someone could give me a second opinion please.
Thanks

I'm not familiar with NHS: this is a US-centric forum, and I'm an Australian.
With an "immediate" denture, the procedure is that the denture is made by taking the soon-to-be-extracted tooth off the model before they make the denture. So the denture is ready to go in straight after the extraction. But is a bit of guesswork because your gums will heal and the bone will shrink over the next 3 months. This will leave you with a gap under the false tooth which might appear unsightly, and will allow the denture tooth to flex and possibly break. But the whole denture doesn't need to be remade; the dental technician does a simple one-day reline.
The more teeth you remove and replace "immediately", the more difficult the procedure and the subsequent healing.
