One tonsil is bigger than the other

I noticed that my left tonsil was bigger than my right a few months ago. It was around the same time that I noticed I had small tonsil stones on the right tonsil that would come out by gargling and hacking. Is the left tonsil a case where the tonsil stone needs to be surgically removed? I couldnt get a picture but I can see some white spots on my left tonsil.
