My teeth never whiten - what should I do?

As a teen (from like 13 to 16), I barely ever brushed (maybe like once or twice a week, so maybe that caused it). Now I brush 3 times a day generally, and after brushing they are a little more white, but still definitely yellow. People also notice it's yellow. I am only 19.

I have tried special toothpastes, hydrogen peroxide, coconut oil, Crest whitening strips etc.

Is it time to get it professionally whitened,

I do generally not drink coffee, tea, red wine or anything that would cause this. Even if I eat like for example a bread with something (no, not Nutella, :D) it will already become yellow.

Internal staining?

It could be that your enamel layer has been destroyed by neglect/diet. The dentin layer, which is usually more yellow in colour, is shining through. You can try a professional bleaching with a dentist, after a thorough evaluation, but this won't last forever. Alternatively you can look at veneers or crowns as more permanent cosmetic solutions.

If your teeth never seem to whiten, it may be worth finding out what is causing the discoloration first. Surface stains from coffee, tea, or tobacco can sometimes respond well to whitening, but deeper discoloration may need a different approach.

I’d recommend talking with a dentist before trying stronger products. They can check your teeth and let you know whether a professional teeth whitening service is suitable or if another cosmetic option would work better.

Do you have a photo?
It is worth noting that teeth are normally a yellowish colour (see attached guide). Someone your age would be expected to be an A2 or A3 on the Classical guide. The extra tabs on the left side were added after people started wanting whiter teeth.
And teeth get darker as you get older, which is why white teeth on old people (usually celebrities) look odd. Look in particular at Morgan Freeman or Cristiano Ronaldo. If you previously had poor-looking teeth like Freeman, I can understand the attraction to get a more even smile - but why so glaringly "toilet-bowl" white? Hey, whatever rocks your boat.

Yellow teeth are not always caused only by food or drinks. Past oral care habits, enamel thickness, natural tooth color, or deeper discoloration can also affect how your smile looks. Whitening toothpaste and strips mainly help with surface stains, so they may not create a major change if the discoloration is deeper.

Since you have already tried several products, it may be worth getting a dental checkup before choosing professional whitening. A dentist can identify the reason behind the yellow shade and suggest the right option, whether that is cleaning, whitening, or another cosmetic treatment.

If you are looking for professional teeth whitening, a cosmetic dentist at a trusted dental clinic in Davie can evaluate your smile and guide you toward a safe treatment plan. Professional whitening is often more effective because it is customized based on your dental condition.
