Mental health triggered by dentist care?

I had my first dental cleaning with hygienist in May 2025, shortly after all my mental disorder symptoms exacerbated and presented stronger than ever; now I have pitting and weak enamel with pain on most of my front teeth. Could the dental cleaning actually triggered my recurrence of mental health symptoms? I was stable with medication prior to this decline I am struggling with now. I feel jaded to go back to the dentist now.

I don't feel that a dental cleaning could have triggered this recurrence. Most likely there are other external factors that could have contributed to this. I would suggest going back to your treating medical professional that treats your mental health disorder.

Thank you for your reply and explanation. I had been seeing emerging research that links dental health biome to mental and vice versa - so I was wondering about the potential in my situation. I will be looking for a different dental practice likely so I establish comfort, after follow up with my psychiatrist.
