Lump on lateral border of tounge

I have noticed a white lump that has appeared on what seems to be enlarged folliate papillae. I have seen a gp for the issue and have been referred to oral surgeon but i am in for a wait, so was wondering if anyone could let me know if I should be worried as I'm panicking. I am unable to get a dentist appointment until late may so I'm just sat worrying now until either the referal comes through or dental appointment. Also to note there is no pain or bleeding. I have had a week course of antibiotics to rule out infection also. Thank you

It might be an enlarged papillae only. Unfortunately, the only way to know for sure is to cut it out and send it away for histological testing.

It's simply a foliate papilla. This can easily be determined by comparing with the other side of the tongue. No need for biopsy.
