Loose gums around molar

Went to see my dentist today. I have some swelling and general pain around my left lower molar (furthest back).

They looked at it and noted it is biting trauma of my molars biting down on the cheek/gums around it (if I translated that right) and that the only true solution would be for the molar to be removed. For now they ground one of the sharp edges on the molar down a bit and told me to take extra care keeping that side of the mouth clean and to rinse with lukewarm salty water or a mouthwash consistently, 3-4 times a day and especially some time after I eat.

Now when I came home and brushed my teeth and did mouthwash I noticed that the gum between my cheek and my molar is somewhat loose. If I pull my cheek outwards as if to make a silly face, the gum that rests against that molar moves away from the molar, allowing me to see more of the molar itself (not much, but enough to be noticeable with the naked eye looking in the mirror).

Does this heal and tighten around the molar again once the damaged gums heal and stop swelling? Or should I be worried about this? I imagine it's easy for food and other debris to get stuck there, how do I make sure this remains clean? Now I used my toothbrush very gently to rub some food remains out of the "gap", is this okay to do?

Any advice is very appreciated, I'm a bit stressy when it comes to my oral hygiene.
