lining up my bite??

I had invisalign for the past two years. I am now into my retainers. Today my dentist told me that my bite was not hitting correctly and that he needs to buff down the tops of some of my teeth so my mouth closes straight.

I understand this. but...

He said I will need about 2-3 visits and that they will cost $450 each. He said it is expensive because he will have to relax my jaw muscles and I will be there for about 2 hours.

Is this even necessary??? It that really the price???
