Issues since Teeth taken out

I had 4 teeth taken out 2 weeks under GA in hospital and since then i have had non stop pain and need some advice as my dentist is not listening to me.

The problem is with the 2 i had out on top left hand side and since i was in hospital every time my bottom teeth touch the sockets it feels like there is razor blades in the sockets and have not been able to eat anything apart from soft food or soups.

the pain and swelling was that bad that on the 1st weekend i went to the emergency dentist who said i had dry socket and put in some padding into the sockets which only lasted 12 hours as they fell out and he gave me some antibiotics for 5 days.

so i took the antibiotics but the pain was not going away so on Monday i went to my own dentist and he said i had dry socket again and gave me more antibiotics which i am taken but the swelling on the top gum does not seem to be going down and the padding dentist put in to Monday has fallen out.

I did say to the dentist on monday that i think the feeling on razor blades was in fact bits of bone in my gum which i have heard will just fall out but he said he could not see any bone and that it will settle down within a few days and guess what its been 2 days since monday and its not getting any better.

I have added a photo which has just been taken and wanted to know if it looks ok and if it should look like it does and will the feeling of razor blades go away and what could be causing me to feel that?

its been the hardest 2 weeks of my life and so wished i did not have the 4 teeth out.

Difficult to see on the photo clearly. Might be bone. Can you feel anything sharp and hard when you gently rub your finger over the sockets? Was the extractions normal or surgical extractions?

Hi it was surgical extractions done in Hospital under GA.

Since i 1st did this post i can not feel anything sharp over the sockets but on one side of the socket its really sore and that was where i could feel something sharp but its not sharp now.

a few days ago in other photos you could see what looked like bone but when my bottom teeth touch the upper gums its still feels sharp so could the sharpness be coming from bottom teeth?

in the photo in my 1st post you can see which looks like bone on the gum on right hand side and that is where its sore but now you can not really see it but as i say its still sore but i can still feel sharpness when i move bottom teeth towards the gums.

i have added a new photo from a few hours ago which as you can see you can not really see that bone that can be seen in photo above in 1st post.

Also in you view does it look like its healing as it should do as now its 2 and half weeks since i had teeth out but i feels its taken forever to heal also i have added other photo of other tooth i had out so does that socket look ok?

Honestly, the healing looks like it progressing normally. Surgical extractions often take longer to heal. Sometimes it can take a month. You might also experience small bone fragments protruding through the gum tissue, even after the sockets are fully closed.
What is the plan here for afterwards? Dentures? implants?

Yes I have got Dentures to put in when the swelling has come down.

Well here is a little update.

Pain has gone(thank god) and the swelling has gone as well.

Still got bone stuck in gum on right hand side and when my bottom teeth touch the upper gums i get a sharp feeling.

I did try to put in the denture in the other day but cause of that bone which is stuck in gum the denture was hitting it so made it hurt.

i had to find a new dentist last week as the one i had has moved away from NHS so took me of their list so am seeing new one next week which i hope will sort out the bone that is stuck in gum by taking it out if he can.

have to say i have never had a month like i have had since having these 4 teeth out and would not want it ever again.

A lot of times the bone will resorb. It might be better adjusting the denture rather in the area where the bone is located, so that there is no pressure on the bone. Cutting it out, might create a new wound, setting back your healing.

If you can't have the denture adjusted, then a simple incision over the pointy bit of bone and removing it with a Rongeurs (Google it) will be used to tidy it up. It will have minimal effect on your healing.

Just a update.

All pain has gone now and can not longer feel the bone bit i now do not get any pain from.

Yes i can still feel the bone in the gum if i rub it but its not causing me any problems now.

did go to dentist who took some of the top of denture so it stops rubbing the bone bit which seem to work but denture is lose when wearing it but dentist said it will be and going back to see her in 3 months time.

Just need to feel ready to wear denture now and get over the being self conscious about wearing it.

so in all things are looking up but a month ago i did not feel that way.

Dentures take time to get used to. 3 months after the last extractions, the dentist can give you a reline to adjust the fit to the new bony contours. This will give you the best fit, but some people have not a lot of bone and still need to supplement the fit with denture adhesives.
