I had an inlay done on my 15th molar. Immediately after the anesthesia wore off my teeth no longer met like they should. I have gone back for 2 adjustments but my bite is ruined . Please advise as to how I can begin to fix this malocclusion problem. My jaws feel tired and I don’t want to damage my other teeth.

The inlay felt high and did not meet the crown tooth that I have below it. They shaved down the inlay twice. The dentist told me that my teeth look aligned and that I should just chew steak and I that my jaw and all my teeth will adjust. I’ve had tmj problems before after crowns. I had to get braces to correct my bite. I’m in my 50s and I’d been fine for over 20 years. And now my bite is off. I am going to go see an orthodontist to check my bite.

It might be that the dentist is just taking too little off the inlay, because he is scared to make the inlay too thin, which might cause it too break.
As long as all the teeth make contact on that side, your bite should be okay.

I went for a second opinion with another dentist specialist and I was told that my inlay was shaved so much that it is no longer touching the tooth below it. He said my bite is like a chair with 3 legs. Worst yet is that the inlay may have caused a shift in the teeth next to it. Next step is to go to an orthodontist to get an occlusion assessment.

How long ago was this inlay made? If there is no contact, there is a chance that it could cause functional problems.
