Heat sensitivity 2 months post root canal

Hi all,
A root canal was done on a molar with a very curved root at the end of March. I should mention the tooth had a horizontal crack in it that was eliminated by the permanent crown buildup. I'm getting ahead of myself. The tooth was not infected before the root canal. Root canal took 3 appointments because my trusted doctor wanted to make sure there were no more canals hiding in there. There weren't. He put a temporary filling in it, and I avoided chewing on it because it was cracked, until I got my temporary crown. I have had that for 4 weeks and have been taking it very easy on it. Today I bit on something pretty hot and it bothered the tooth. Can this still be normal? Supposed to be getting permanent crown placed Tuesday. Thanks for any input.

Might just be the temp and settle down after the permanent. Unfortunately for me not the case for me but I'm dealing with a whole other issue with a new root canal 🙃. I did have one similar to yours though that settled down after permanent. The seal on temps isn't all that great either so it seems it can likely be that

Thanks for your reply. I'm just confused if there's no nerve left in the tooth why the sensitivity. The Endodontist did say there are a bunch of other nerves surrounding the tooth. I also read it could take up to a few months to settle down. Thanks again.

It's the peridontal ligament. It can feel like it's the tooth but just be that. Root canals can take a long time to settle down though I'm pretty sure mine is toast. My first one took two months to settle and I thought for sure it wasn't good. Turns out it was the tooth next to it referring pain. Couldnt drink coffee or tea because it would hurt. One next to it had to be root canaled but I actually think the one next to it is done for and ready for extraction 😬. Still have pain on this one months later though i have been told it isn't the tooth but yeah.

I think yours will settle down! Give it some time. Mine is a different situation
