Gum problems. Attatched picture

For the last week I have been dealing with discomfort on my lower gums. I have been gargling with salt water, but that only seems to make it hurt worse. It's like a raw, cut feeling on the gums. Any ideas of what is going on OR how to solve the problem? Thanks in advance!!!
