Gum pain between teeth

Over the last few months I’ve had three different molars filled. #3, #5, and the tooth directly below #3. We expected to have the most trouble with #5 but ironically that’s the one that turned out the best. What I’m having the most trouble is between #’s 2&3. It seems these two have moved apart… so far so that when I eat, food gets packed in the gap and hurts , a LOT! Every bite is absolute punishment. It actually feels like there’s a splinter up in there or some other sharp foreign object. Every bite is stab. As if that wasn’t enough, the tooth directly below that one is now hypersensitive to temperatures. And with my insurance, my options are limited, if you know what I mean. My dentist and I discussed it and neither of us have any idea what’s causing the issues. He suggested that it could be referred pain from other issues but that doesn’t make much sense to me.
Anyway, I sure could use some advice as to what this problem might be and how to fix it.
Thank you.

Do you have an x-ray that you could share? Could be that the fillings that were done, created an open contact, which is creating a food trap. Sometimes all that is needed is to re-do the fillings. In other cases you might need 1 or 2 crowns in order to try and close the contact.
Can give a better opinion with an x-ray.

This pain has been going on for months? Teeth get so sensitive after any dental work is done. Has your dds ever suggested that the pain might be due to either TMJ or just ‘extra sensitivity’? Have you tried the toothpaste for sensitive teeth?
