Exam and Second Opinion.

I just completed a comprehensive exam, X-rays and probe depth measurements with my dentist at over $200. They prescribed deep cleanings. I was considering a second opinion and pricing from a new dentist so I had all my records, exam results and X-rays sent. Today they said they would not do a deep cleaning for me unless they did their own exam. Does that seem necessary?

Yes, the dentist can not be sure that the measurements made by the other dentist is accurate. They might use different instruments or probing methods.
I do this as well, though I do not necessarily charge for any x-rays that I might take, if the patient brought recently taken x-rays.
