POST OP, DAY 5

This is totally dry socket, isn't it? : (

Weird taste and smell, yet I'm confused because I don't feel any severe pain. I'm sure I took all the preventative measures and don't have any smoking history, so I'm not sure what could've caused this. I do feel sore in the morning, but I take 600mg of Ibuprofen once and don't feel it for the rest of the day. I've also been taking prescribed Amoxicillin 3 times a day.

I haven't gone to my dentist or called yet because they're closed for the weekend and my upcoming schedule is busy, so I was hoping to see if I could get a reply before I get the time to go in for an assessment--or if it's necessary at all. I was very paranoid about getting dry socket or any kind of infection so I'd like to know whether this is an urgent matter.

I appreciate anyone who has the time to read and reply. Thank you!

A dry socket is a self limiting disease, which means it will go away without any intervention. Dry sockets are very common with lower molar extractions. My suggestion would be that if there is minimal pain, to leave it to resolve on its own. If the pain increases, then go see your dentist in order to clean out the socket.
