I got a filling for a cavity half year ago. Since then, I feel a weird sensation in the filling area whenever I tap on the tooth, and then the tooth gets hurt, or more like uncomfortable, for several hours. It's actually been spontaneously uncomfortable for the past few days.
The dentist who did the filling said that my gums bleed a lot and therefore the fillings "never get done well".
So I recently went to a root canal specialist and he took x-rays and told me that the tooth was fine, since the filling was well done, not too close to the pulp, and not too sensitive to cold. Even after me telling him about the aforementioned symptoms.
I'm just having a hard time believing him. Because these symptoms really don't seem normal. I have almost all my teeth with fillings, some also almost as recent, and none has these symptoms. The symptoms don't bother me that much, but I'm really scared of progression to pulpitis and the severe pain it may entail.
So should I try another dentist and say I just want a root canal anyway?
ps: I've been using sensodyne toothpaste for a year already.
