Hi, I have had a few extractions before and experienced dry socket once, but was careful (or so I thought) this time. Two days ago I had a molar on my lower right side removed and I remember removing the gauze the dentist had packed in an hour after my extraction and it looked like I dislodged the blood clot, but from everything I read that wouldn't even be possible. Anyhow, it has started hurting more and more and I'll call my dentist tomorrow, but I doubt he will be able to see me. I have clove oilbut how should I use it? Thx

Lower molars have a higher risk of developing dry sockets. I would not suggest using clove oil. Continue with a very gentle salt water rinse and take anti-inflammatory medication for the pain. Dry sockets usually only appear after 4-5 days post extraction and is accompanied by a bad taste or smell. Don't know if you have used any medication until this point? Might be normal post operative surgical pain.
