Dentists up selling veeners

Nearly every office I've been to told me my entire mouth needed crowns. Now things were going smooth with this new dentist, they already crowned five of my uppers. I'm at a point where I just want to get the crowns done. So since one tooth is shaved off at the top and the one next to it had uncomfortable sharp fillings I talked to them about crowning. Dentists agreed then switched and said let's do veneers.Claiming I'm going by cosmetic reasons when half the teeth are decayed and been drilled on anyway. Veneers are rarely covered by any insurance and I'm at a point where I can't afford them. It felt like they just wanted me to pay out of pocket for veneers and not the crowns. I didn't raise a huge fuss just told them if the dentist didn't want to listen I'll find a new office and canceled my appointments. It's sad this is a practice for some over four remainder teeth. I'd rather just have the crowns if they're going to drill anyway.

Why did the dentist switch from crowns to veneers? Did he give a reason for this?
Could be short term memory loss or they didn't update the system but I reminded the doctor twice and the front desk argues about it. I don't play that game with what I know I've been needed and multiple offices in the past have told me I needed. Alot of older docs I seen have phased out the use of Nitrous which is a big help during my treatments. I've posted photos of my bottoms in the past I'd say they're well past the use of veneers and crowns would be a stronger choice.

There seems to be a lot of wear on some of the teeth. Veneers are definitely not as strong as crowns, and if you are a bit of a bruxer, they will break and then you will need replacement at your own cost. I would agree that a second opinion would be better in your case.

Yes that's also why I insisted on zirconia I've had I think two middles since I was 15 they held up but could probably use replacing by now they had to shave alot to fit my uppers. Wish more dentists like you were in my area I've once had a visit where they insisted I do they entire mouth in one visit then sent me a recommendation to a dental school that would've done them one by one anyway. Been a long frustrating journey but at least I'm almost done by now.

Also consider WHY your teeth might be wearing down. I often see this degree of wear in patients who drink a lot of soda, fruit juices, or citrus fruits. And of course, good hygiene.
