Why do dentists call themselves "Doctors" when they don't necessarily have a PHD?
I guess they are just tagging along with General Practitioners who also call themselves "Doctors" presumably of medicine? when not qualified..Just historical for them I guess...e.g. Witch Doctors.
It annoys me and lessens the value/kudos of those amongst us who have indeed studied hard and gained a real Doctorate.
